When Christ stood before Pilate at His trial, Christ said, "I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to my voice."
Pilate said to him, "What is the truth?" John 18:37-38.
For the past week, our televisions have been filled with horrific images of death and destruction in Israel. Depending on the news station, College campus, or religious leader, the "truth" being told is very different. I know that I feel helpless and can only turn to prayer asking for God's mercy and His mighty power to stop the atrocities and suffering on both sides. Hate and bigotry of one group against another has fueled this bloodshed for decades.
And now in our own country, the " truth" regarding another form of death and destruction is spreading its ugly lies. I'm speaking about abortion.
In doing research for our group, Men and Women United for Life, and for this blog, I have read a lot of information on pro-abortion websites. Some of the things stated are:
Having an abortion is safer for a woman that delivering a child.
When having a chemical abortion, "mild cramping and some bleeding will occur," especially in the early weeks of the pregnancy. If you talk to anyone who has had a chemical abortion, they will most likely have a different opinion.
The baby is referred to as "the product of the pregnancy," not a fetus, child, or baby. Planned Parenthood website.
On November 7, those eligible to vote will have the opportunity to vote for or against Issue 1 which will change our State forever if it passes. I encourage you to research and educate yourself regarding the TRUTH about abortion, especially what is involved in a late-term abortion.
Those in favor of Issue 1 state that a woman's reproductive freedom to abortion will be taken away. What they don't state is that Issue 1 will enshrine abortion in our State's Constitution through all 9 months of pregnancy up to delivery for almost any reason.
The doctor who is attending to the woman will be able to make the decision as to the woman's need for the abortion. That need can be physical, medical, social, financial, or emotional. He or she making the decision will most likely be the abortionist for the woman.
Those in favor also say that the Bill will take away a woman's right to use contraception. That is NOT TRUE.
They also say that women who are undergoing a miscarriage or an ectopic pregnancy will not be able to receive medical treatment. That is NOT TRUE. Women suffering a miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy have always and will always be able to receive life saving treatment.
So what will happen if the Bill does pass in November? Here are some additional things for you to consider:
1) All medical personnel will be required to assist or perform abortions if needed. This will strip away all conscience protection rights for Doctors and Nurses.
2) Legal protection will be given to any person or entity that assists a person with receiving reproductive medical treatment, including but not limited to abortion. This means that anyone would be able to perform an abortion. Anyone would be able to assist a girl in receiving an abortion. So, a softball coach who gets a 15 year old girl pregnant will be able to take the girl for an abortion without any legal ramifications.
3) The Doctor will be the one who determines the baby's viability to live outside the womb. If this is an abortionist, what do you think his determination will be???
4) Parents will be forbidden to prevent their minor daughter from having an abortion. Students are not permitted to take an aspirin or Tylenol while at school without parental permission, but the child will be able to have an abortion without parental permission or even knowledge.
5) There will be no age limit on abortion.
6) Currently, there is a 24 hour waiting period between when a girl states that she wants an abortion and until the abortion is performed. That wait period, which is designed to give the girl time to really think about her decision, will be done away with.
7) Currently, Ohio requires care and safety standards for pregnant women such as requiring abortions to be performed by a licensed doctor who has transfer privileges to a nearby hospital in case the woman is in trouble. That directive will go away. So, if a woman gets into trouble, she will have to get herself to a hospital to seek treatment!
8) Abortion will be permitted because of the sex, race, or possible disability of a child. Currently, preborn babies who have been diagnosed with Down's syndrome have protection from abortion. That will go away!
9) Parents may be forbidden from preventing their child from receiving gender transitioning drugs or surgery if this passes.
Currently, there are only seven countries out of one hundred ninety-eight that allow abortion after twenty weeks of gestation. Those countries are: China, Canada, Netherlands, North Korea, Singapore, Vietnam, and THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!
Do we really want to put the citizens of Ohio in the company of China and North Korea as well as the others? The citizens of Ohio are better than this! Please learn as much as you can about this issue and then vote NO on November 7th. Your no vote will :
A) PROTECT HUMAN LIFE.
B) PROTECT WOMEN'S HEALTH
C) PROTECT PARENTAL RIGHTS
Statistics show that one out of every three women has had at least one abortion in her life, be it a surgical or chemical abortion. Many suffer emotionally from the trauma of abortion, including physical, emotional, as well as spiritual effects of their decision. Frank Pavone from Priests for Life states that "Abortion is the unchoice," meaning that if the woman knew that she had someone to support her or to be with her during her pregnancy and afterwards, she never would have chosen to abort her child.
Please pray a Rosary, attend Holy Mass and Adoration for this issue as well as prayers for peace in the Middle East. I believe that it is the lack of respect for the dignity of all human life that has brought us to this place not only in the United States but around the world.
We believe that the Bible contains the TRUTH about our faith; just recite the Apostles Creed to renew your faith. The Gospels contain numerous stories about Christ and His love for babies and children. "Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not prevent them, for the kingdom on heaven belongs to such as these." Matthew 19:14.
